Determination of Separation Efficiency of Hydrocyclone Used Pre-Filter in Micro Irrigation at Different Inlet Velocities and Sand Diameters

Hydrocyclones are used as pre-filter to reduce suspended particles in irrigation water on the subsequent filters. The aim of study was determine separation efficiency (SE) hydrocyclones, called H1, H2 and H3 according inlet/outlet diameters, at velocities 1.0 (V10), 1.5 (V15) 2.0 (V20) ms-1, sands diameter 0.5 (D05), (D10), (D15), (D20) 2.5 (D25) mm. Therefore, a hydrocyclone laboratory test system constituted using tank, motor pump, inverter, flowmeter, valve, hydrocyclone, disk filter, polythene pipe. Separation efficiencies were calculated by dividing amounts sand collected collection box feeding amount sand. lowest average determined 37% H1V10D05 treatment highest ones 97% both H2V20D10 H3V20D20, other changed between two values. Average resulted 69%, 88% for 71%, 84% 90% V10, V15 V20 velocities, 78%, 82%, 83% D05, D10, D15, D20 D25 respectively. Besides these, three parameters 82%. Since inlet size is smaller than that its SE higher H1 equal H3, most suitable be micro irrigation. velocity ms-1. According optimum showed increased with increasing from ms-1 diameters In irrigation, materials play crucial roles well mechanical properties.
